Privacy Policy

CloudEx Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the "System Equalizer Pro" app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Our Core Principle

System Equalizer Pro is an app that adjusts the tone of the sound your device plays. All audio processing is performed entirely on your device, and we never listen to, copy, or keep what you play. Specifically, we do not record, store, or transmit any of the following:

  • The audio you play, or any part of its content
  • Sound picked up by the microphone
  • A personally identifiable history of the apps you use

2. About Audio Processing

System Equalizer Pro attaches the audio effects built into Android (DynamicsProcessing, Equalizer, Virtualizer, LoudnessEnhancer) to your device's audio output and changes only the tone of the sound passing through it.

  • The processing happens inside the audio path on your device. The sound is never copied, saved, or sent anywhere.
  • The app does not use Android's accessibility service.
  • The app does not draw over other apps.

If you turn on the optional spectrum display, the app reads the level of the output mix so it can draw the bars. See Section 3.5 for why that needs the microphone permission.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information Collected Automatically

  • Anonymous crash reports: Via Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes, we collect the stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version. This does not include personally identifiable information or screen contents.
  • App usage statistics: Via Google Analytics for Firebase. We collect anonymous app usage events (such as the app being opened for the first time) together with device information and the device's advertising ID (AAID). We use this data to understand aggregate app usage and to measure the effectiveness of our own advertising campaigns (counting app installs that resulted from an ad). It is never used to display ads in the app.
  • Purchase / license information: We use purchase tokens issued by Google Play to verify your purchase. We never receive any payment information such as credit card numbers.

3.2 Information Stored Only on Your Device

  • App settings: the on/off state, the equalizer bands, effect values, presets you create, the presets assigned to each output device or app, the night-mode schedule, and the result of the hearing test are stored only on your device. They are erased when you uninstall the app or clear the app's data.
  • Player settings: the music app you picked for the player bar and the skin you selected are stored only on your device.

3.3 Information We Explicitly Do Not Collect

  • The audio you play, or any recording of it
  • Sound picked up by the microphone
  • Location information such as GPS coordinates
  • Phone number, contacts, calendar, photos, or camera
  • The contents of your notifications
  • Your music files, or any list of them

3.4 Permissions the App Requests and Their Purposes

Equalizing the sound of the whole device requires several OS permissions. System Equalizer Pro uses them only for the stated purposes:

  • Modify audio settings (MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS) — Required in order to create the audio effects. Without it the equalizer cannot attach to the audio output at all.
  • Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) — Requested only if you turn on the spectrum display. Android requires this permission to read the level of the audio output. No microphone audio is ever used. See Section 3.5.
  • Usage access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS) — Requested only if you enable per-app profiles together with foreground-app detection. It is used solely to detect which app is in the foreground so the preset you assigned to it can be applied. This information is used on your device only and is never collected, stored, or transmitted.
  • Notifications (Android 13+) — Used to show the persistent notification with the on/off and preset buttons, which is the app's main quick control.
  • Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — Used to bring the equalizer back after you restart your device, if it was on.
  • Notification access — Optional. Requested only so the app can show the track you are listening to and let you pause or skip it from the player bar. Android makes the media playback controls available only to apps the user has enabled as a notification listener, and that is the sole reason this is asked for. See Section 3.6.
  • Ignore battery optimizations — Optional. Some devices close background apps to save power, which switches the effects off without any warning. Allowing this only stops the system from closing the equalizer; nothing extra runs and nothing is collected.

3.5 About the Microphone Permission

Android uses the same API for reading the level of the audio output as it does for recording, so it requires the microphone permission (RECORD_AUDIO) for both. That is the only reason the spectrum display asks for it.

System Equalizer Pro never records, saves, or transmits sound from the microphone. The permission is requested only at the moment you switch the spectrum display on, and the equalizer itself works without it — if you do not use the spectrum display, you can simply leave the permission denied.

3.6 About Notification Access

To show what is playing — and to let you pause or skip it from inside System Equalizer Pro — the app needs the playback controls published by the app you are listening to. On Android those controls are available only to apps the user has enabled as a notification listener, so the system asks for notification access.

System Equalizer Pro does not read the contents of your notifications. The parts of the app that receive notifications are deliberately left empty: nothing is read, stored, or transmitted. The permission is requested only at the moment you tap the player bar, and the equalizer itself works without it.

You can withdraw it at any time from your device settings (the exact wording varies by device, e.g. Settings → Notifications → Device & app notifications).

4. How We Use Information

The limited information we collect is used only for the following purposes:

  • Operating and maintaining the Service
  • Verifying purchases
  • Understanding aggregate app usage and improving the app (analytics)
  • Measuring the effectiveness of our own advertising campaigns (install conversion measurement)
  • Diagnosing and fixing crashes
  • Responding to support inquiries
  • Complying with applicable laws

5. Third-Party Services

System Equalizer Pro uses the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy.

  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — anonymous crash diagnostic data
  • Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC) — anonymous app usage statistics and measurement of our own ad campaigns (install conversions)
  • Google Play Billing — payments are completed on the store platform side

System Equalizer Pro does not display ads within the app and does not share your data with advertising networks in order to show you ads.

6. Data Retention

  • Crash reports: retained for 90 days, then deleted.
  • Analytics data: retained by Google Analytics for up to 14 months, then deleted.
  • Settings stored on your device: erased when you uninstall the app or clear the app's data.

7. International Data Transfers

We are based in Japan. The infrastructure used for crash diagnostics and analytics may be located in various countries. When you use the Service, the minimal information described above may be processed outside your country of residence under standard contractual safeguards.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you reside (e.g., the EEA, UK, California, Japan), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the limited information we hold. You can:

  • Reset or delete your device's advertising ID in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads)
  • Uninstall the app or clear the app's data to erase the settings on your device
  • Contact us at the address below to make a request regarding the information we hold

9. Children's Privacy

System Equalizer Pro is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age applicable in your region). If we inadvertently collect information from such a child, we will delete it promptly upon being contacted.

10. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version is always published at this URL together with its effective date. We will also notify you within the app of significant changes as appropriate.
